چکیده
We apply the non-relativistic effective Lagrangian approach to the description of the K̄d atom, which is presently studied by the SIDDHARTA experiment at LNF-INFN. In particular, we demonstrate that a systematic calculation of the retardation effect in the K̄d scattering length is possible within this framework. It is argued that a relatively small size of the net correction for the double scattering diagrams, despite the large value of the ratio MK/mN , is related to the cancellations occuring at the leading order [1].

Scintillation detectors are widely used in the experimental setup for the detection of charged particles. These detectors are able to measure the energy and time-of-flight of the charged particles. Also, they can be used to identify the detected particle. The probability of hadronic interaction between the detected particle and the nuclei of the scintillator atoms is one important issue that m...
متن کاملHadronic atoms in QCD + QED November 16 , 2007
We review the theory of hadronic atoms in QCD + QED, based on a non–relativistic effective Lagrangian framework. We first provide an introduction to the theory, and then describe several applications: meson– meson, meson–nucleon atoms and meson–deuteron compounds. Finally, we compare the quantum field theory framework used here with the traditional approach, which is based on quantum–mechanical...
متن کاملEffective theories and hadronic bound states ∗
Recent progress in the description of the properties of hadronic atoms on the basis of non-relativistic effective Lagrangian approach and Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) is reported. For the case of the π + π − atom decay, the problem is completely solved, both conceptually and numerically. For the π − p atom, a general expression for the ground-state energy is obtained in the first non-leadi...
متن کاملSpectrum and Decays of Hadronic Atoms
Hadronic atoms are highly non-relativistic loosely bound systems of hadrons mainly formed by the Coulomb interaction. The study of these hadronic bound states has seen growing interest during recent years, because they provide important information on the behavior of QCD at low-energy. The DIRAC collaboration 1 at CERN measures the lifetime of the ππ atom, and plans to determine the ππ scatteri...
متن کاملTheory of Hadronic Atoms
A review of the modern theory of hadronic atoms based on the non-relativistic effective Lagrangian approach and ChPT, is given. As an application of the general framework, we consider the decay of the ππ atom into two neutral pions, and the energy-level shift of the π−p atom. The analysis of the decay width of the ππ atom has been carried out at the first non-leading order in isospin breaking, ...
